Audio and Visual System Modernization

Key Objective: Replace aging legacy equipment with a high-performance, integrated digital ecosystem that supports diverse school activities from daily announcements to professional-grade drama performances. 

 

First Mode Solutions was commissioned by Tenby International School to undertake a comprehensive redesign and upgrade of their existing audio-visual infrastructure. The project focused on transforming the auditory experience across three key campus zones: the Auditorium, Canteen, and Reception areas.

Solution Design & Zones

 

1. Auditorium: Professional Sound Reinforcement

The heart of the project involved a transition to a high-fidelity digital audio system designed to handle the complex acoustics of a large assembly space. 

Tenby Schools

  • System Architecture: Implementation of a digital mixing environment using high-end consoles like the XR18, offering superior pre-amps and signal processing.

  • Loudspeaker Configuration: Custom line array systems and subwoofers were deployed to ensure uniform coverage and high speech intelligibility throughout the 400-seat capacity hall.

  • Digital Integration: Utilizing stage boxes for clean, noise-free signal transmission via digital snakes, significantly reducing cable clutter.

2. Canteen & Common Areas: BGM & Paging

 

A robust Background Music (BGM) system was designed for the Canteen to create a welcoming atmosphere for students and staff during breaks. 

Tenby Schools

  • Zoned Control: The system allows for independent volume and source selection, ensuring that audio levels are optimized for the ambient noise of a busy dining environment.

  • Multi-Purpose Use: Integrated with the school’s paging system for clear, campus-wide announcements.

3. Reception & Lobby: Professional Welcome

 

The first point of contact for visitors now features a discrete but high-quality audio solution.

  • Aesthetic Integration: Use of ceiling-mounted or surface-mounted speakers that blend into the modern architecture.

  • Ambient Management: Continuous BGM capability to enhance the professional feel of the school's entrance.
